Exploring Black culture through the aesthetics of the 2000s, I designed the backdrops for this editorial shoot in Narrative Magazine’s Issue 08: The Culture. Using a mix of textiles, materials, and props, I selected and arranged elements that enhanced the visual storytelling of each look.

Rather than constructing physical sets, I worked with layered textures and strategic placement to create compelling environments that framed the subjects and amplified the era’s bold styling. Each backdrop was carefully curated to evoke nostalgia while adding depth and energy to the images.

This project demonstrated my approach to set design as a tool for cultural storytelling, using materials and composition to shape the mood and visual impact of editorial photography.
